Are you surviving or are you LIVING?

My name is Jacqueline Kane, and I own the Bowen Healing Center in Torrington, CT.  Ever since I can remember, I've been on a journey of self-discovery and learning about how to live a healthy, vibrant life.  In this blog, I will inform you about different therapies and how they can help you to reach your personal health goals.

I spent the first 15 years of my career as a radiologic technologist, working  in hospitals and radiology offices.  I then transitioned into the field of massage therapy, and from there explored other forms of alternative therapies, including Bowen Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique (or EFT), among others.  It has been my experience that Bowen and EFT have produced the most significant and transformational changes for my clients, fueling my passion for these unique therapies.

Bowen Therapy is still new to many people, so let me explain it briefly here.  Bowen is a hands-on therapy that is applied using very gentle pressure.  The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers on precise points of the body to perform a unique set of rolling-type moves which stimulate the muscles and soft tissue of the body.  The experience of a treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing.  It is believed that the Bowen technique prompts the body to reset, repair and balance itself, and clients report the experience of both pain relief and an increase in energy. 

So I ask you, How are you feeling?  Are you just surviving, with pain and fatigue as an accepted factor in your life?  Is your pain affecting how much fun you are having each day?  Do you "need" that afternoon coffee to get you through the day?  Do you find yourself saying things like "I am just getting old….It's expected for my health to deteriorate…”?

It’s time we all abandon the attitude of complacent survival, and start taking action to truly LIVE!  Bring back your childlike curiosity and uncover what you need to LIVE every day to the fullest.
