Last month we talked about
"Unconditional Giving" as being a key component of the Successful
Networker. WHY? In the business world, if I am referring someone to you, it is MY
REPUTATION that is on the line based upon YOUR PERFORMANCE. Therefore, I must
KNOW, LIKE and TRUST you and if I sense you are not an Unconditional Giver, I
am going to be reluctant to refer to you...
Unconditional Givers have
a knack at looking at business (and life) with a positive "Spin" (unlimited
ABUNDANCE) rather than with negative one (LACK)... Let's look at two "C"
Words scenarios to put things into perspective...
Scenario #1: "Competition" vs. "Collaboration":
Competition:
How often do you hear people BLAME business conditions on the fact that they
have too much Competition? I have a question for them... When is the last time
they ran into the "last prospect or customer in the world"? Right - there
is no such thing, yet people who overwhelm themselves with the thought of too
much competition fail to be proactive in business development and managing
their operations because they are coming from a FEELING of LACK, which will
only produce more of it...
Collaboration: If there is unlimited ABUNDANCE (which means there is plenty of business for all), then let's "Spin" the DREADED "C" Word (Competition) to a POSITIVE one (Collaboration). When you look at it, "Collaboration" is really what the definition of Networking in business is all about - "The Process of Developing Win-Win Relationships". These relationships are also known as "Strategic Partnerships". Identify your niche, who you serve, and the types of people and businesses you need to develop "Strategic Partnerships" with (these are your resources for referring prospects to you), then go out and do it! And REMEMBER, "Win-Win" means you are resources for them too...

Scenario #2: "Comparing and/or Criticizing" versus
"Complimenting":
Comparing and/or Criticizing: This is a commonly used "SALES" tactic of
identifying the FAULTS of your COMPETITION compared to your qualities as a
means of getting business. Again, whether you know it or not, this is PERCEIVED
by most people as your coming from a position of LACK or even DESPERATION... Do
you respect people OUTSIDE the business world who criticize others when they
are not there? Your prospects don't either...
Complimenting: How do you feel about people who give you and others the benefit of the doubt? Pretty easy to like and trust, right? Give your "COMPETITION" credit for being good at what they do: they most likely ARE and the person you are talking to most likely knows that. They will also appreciate you as someone who is genuine and approaching them for THEIR benefit rather than someone desperate for business...

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
UNCONDITIONALLY apply
"The Golden Rule" (the "Positive Law of Attraction") to
business: "Collaborate" with others and "Compliment" your
"perceived" competitors...

Chip, the Happiness and Success GPS for one's
LIFE and one's CAREER, is a speaker, trainer, facilitator, consultant (business
and personal) and a NETWORKING EXPERT. Everything I do is customized for the
group or business I that am working with so let's brainstorm!
My PURPOSE and MISSION is to spread AWARENESS to everyone that they have the CHOICE (a gift given only to human beings) to ESCAPE from "SAMEVILLE" (the day to day routines many CHOOSE to get stuck in citing OUTSIDE INFLUENCES they have no control over) and CHOOSE instead to build a happy and successful life. I LOVE speaking to groups (including students) about this. If you have a suggestion for a group for me to present to, let's talk about it - call me anytime at 860-673-4006 - coffee's on me!
