Have You Ever Thought About Becoming a Conference Speaker?

Every year, thousands of conferences, conventions, association meetings, trade shows, and corporate events hire speakers to educate, inspire, motivate, and entertain their audiences. Many of those speakers earn more from a single presentation than some professionals earn in a week. Others use speaking as a way to build their business, promote their books, attract clients, increase their visibility, and establish themselves as recognized experts in their field.

Get the book TODAY!

What surprises many people is that most conference speakers did not start their careers on a stage. They started exactly where you may be right now. Sitting in the audience. Watching someone else speak. Wondering what it would be like to stand at the front of the room.

I know because that's how my journey began.

Over time, I moved from attendee to presenter, from presenter to breakout speaker, and eventually to keynote speaker. Along the way, I learned that conference speaking is not nearly as mysterious as most people think.

The funny thing is that after many events where I was a conference speaker... people walked up to the

stage when I was done and asked me the same question, city after city... "I want to do what you're doing, speaking on what I'm passionate about from the stage." That's how this book was born.

Conference planners are constantly searching for knowledgeable, reliable, audience-focused speakers who can deliver exceptional presentations and make their events successful. The good news is that those opportunities are available in virtually every industry and area of expertise.

Whether you're a consultant, coach, entrepreneur, trainer, author, business owner, educator, healthcare professional, or subject-matter expert, there are conferences looking for speakers who can provide value to their audiences.

My NEW book will show you how to find those opportunities, position yourself as a speaker, submit winning proposals, build relationships with conference planners, and deliver presentations that lead to repeat invitations.

You'll learn the differences between breakout sessions, showcase presentations, workshops, and keynote speeches. More importantly, you'll discover the professional habits and speaker behaviors that separate average presenters from the speakers conference planners invite back year after year.

This is not a book about theory. It is a practical roadmap based on real-world experience in the conference industry. This is not a book about theory. It is a practical roadmap based on real-world experience in the conference industry.

If you've ever imagined yourself speaking at conferences, this book will show you exactly how to get there. Pick up your paperback or Kindle copy today—and if you prefer listening while you drive or exercise, the Audible edition is expected by July 5, 2026.

Moving Well

I grew up on Long Island and my parents were very understanding of the time I spent with my friends.
Therefore in sixth grade I traveled with my friend Wendy to a little town in Connecticut. The name of the town was Woodbury. We stayed with her grandmother and grandfather in their home on a main street. I remember the floors slanted a bit and I though the house was wonderful. When I moved to Cheshire, CT many years later I went to Woodbury and found the Wheeler house, now  a part of the historic district of town. I passed the house several times when my stepdaughter and husband moved to Woodbury and would say tell the story repeatedly about my sixth grade adventures with the Wheelers.

Since then I have moved several times. I also have moved in and out of offices and a pre-school, private kindergarten building that we owned. Moving our belongings and furniture is something that most peoples can relate to these days. However moving is decreasing. According to the census only 2.5 percent of people in the United States moved last year.
Perhaps you have moved due to a job change, marital status change, health problems, downsizing a home, less garden and upkeep. Whatever your personal reason for moving you probably remember the boxes, the friends and family that have helped you and oh yes, the pizza and fast food meals in between.#
In my Keynote Speech Live Life Every Golden Minute (and sometimes titled Taking Care of You) I speak about the Trinity of health: moving well, eating well and thinking well. I usually refer to the individual who 1. Needs to move their physical body well. 2. Understand how to move up, move over and move out when appropriate and 3. Move within the team through ideas and energy.

All of these happened during our move. My son and grandsons helped joyously and we were thankful that they could help us as we made another move to a place for people over 55, next to the town of Woodbury CT. The street we moved to is Wheeler Rd.

To Breathe or Not To Breathe? That is the question!

Breathe
Of course you know the answer.  If you don’t breathe you die.  We can live without food for weeks. We can live without water for several days but we can only live without air for about 6 minutes. Then the brain cells start to die.  If you are in a profession where you depend on your voice to sell a  product, ideas and benefits then a quick survey of your skills of breathing need to be assessed.

One of the ways I check breathing in my presentations and Speeches is to have audience members stand with the back of their legs against their chairs. Go ahead, stand up now and feel that chair behind your legs. That’s because when you breath gets thin you will want to sit down immediately, we don’t want any fainting! Your breath is your life and your vitality yet most people never think about breath as a reflection of their health. Here’s the test! While standing you will exhale all that “used air.” Let it make a noise as it escapes through the little round hole as you blow out the carbon dioxide. Then open your mouth and breathe in the oxygen filled air and let it make a noise across your vocal folds. Silently count as the air rushes in. When you can no longer breathe in, sit down and release your air.
If you are breathing well your count would be 20 or more counts during the inhale. The average person has a count between 7 and 10. If you were in this range than remember to go outside every day and breathe outdoor air. Indoor air contains other peoples used air, pollutants including: paint and plastic fumes, chemicals, smoke, animal and people odors, cooking odors and 100 other substances that you can think of if you want to. IF your breath is on the weaker side practice diaphragmatic breathing
Almost anyone can learn to breathe with diaphragm muscle support. It does take practice. When you breathe deeply, you breathe automatically through your nose.  A good way to start developing the diaphragm, the largest muscle in the body, is to lie on the floor and pile books on your diaphragm.  Close your mouth and breathe deeply through your nose.  Watch carefully as the books rise and fall.  Continue until you feel the diaphragm pulling and strengthening.  When you are outside walking, keep your mouth closed as you inhale nasally on a count of – one, two, three then exhale on a count of one, two, and three. Remember when you are presenting information to others if you are nervous or tense breathe! Now doesn’t this help you breathe more easily?

Necessity IS the Mother of Invention

Yesterday was Mother’s Day. Each one of us is in this world is here because of our birth mother.
And we thanked our moms with a card, flowers or a celebration. Perhaps we have spent our growing life with our mother or maybe we have been adopted and have a second mother. Perhaps we have a step mother or we might have had a surrogate birth mother. I have a step-daughter who was a surrogate mother, carrying and giving birth to twins that were the sperm and eggs from their own father and mother.

Wow! What a creation! Maybe we are called mother by someone who is very close to us and if
we are very lucky we become a grandmother or even a great grandmother. We also use the word mother in many different forms from Religious to disgust.

Then there is the use of the word as this quote states: “necessity is the mother of invention.”
What this means is that there is a birth of an idea that has a solution.
As business owners, Professional Speakers, writers and Marketers we all become mothers to our businesses whether male or female. We create, feed and nurture ides, programs, books, blogs, Speeches, Workshops and various creations.

There are usually two kinds of people who are Soleprenaurs. The process person and the product person. If we are a process person we may procrastinate, and put off the product creation, production and distribution because we are just having fun doing what we’re doing. If we are a product person,
we may have difficulty with the process and are quite joyful when we get someone else to help us
as we create the finished product.

It is however, a necessity to be both a process and product person if we are to stay in business.
When your mind wanders too far away from the task at hand and you lose sight of the end results
get some Life Coaching to help you stay motivated. Likewise, if you are focused on the end product, get a Life Coach who can help you with your business process.
So yes! Necessity IS the mother of invention and that’s YOUR challenge!
