Today’s Blog:  “Step Back; The View is Better”

This past week, I was traveling with a group of some of the finest residential luxury architects in America.  As this is the basis of many of my business opportunities and projects, you can bet that I was “all ears” all the time.   After all, these are the people who have their finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the design community.  They are the “Movers and Shakers” of their world!

Part of the program that we were participating in, was an architectural tour of New York City. . .but from view of a boat!   That’s right, we took a luxury vessel completely around the island of Manhattan and enjoyed the narrative of an architectural expert.

As a born and raised New Yorker, I felt like a kid again.  I have walked the streets, ridden on buses, taken cabs as well as subways during the hectic rat race we call life. . . .and here I was shackeled to a boat for 3 hours watching the beautiful New York City skyline, and learning about so much of her history.

As we passed Lady Liberty (Statue of Liberty), I remembered! I remembered visiting the site as a boy with my family.  I remembered walking around the base with my mom and dad (RIP).

I remembered that when I have a problem, an issue or even an opportunity. . . .I should step back and look at the situation from a different perspective! 

By taking a step back, we change the detail surrounding the issue and can gain a clearer picture in order to make good long term decisions.   So next time you find yourself challenged. . . .”Step Back”!
