The Body Language of Breast Cancer

Carolyn Finch

Breast Cancer is known throughout the world and it changes the lives of families forever. When the disease is discovered in a mom, sister or child, it alters simple daily routines, outlook on life, behavior and even body language. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. This is a time to remember to get a Mammogram or better yet a Thermography too. Cancer awareness is to promote early detection. At first it was for only Mammograms. Now that we know Thermography can detect cancer several years before a Mammogram, it is wise to do both tests when possible. Take those necessary steps for prevention.

Cancer doesn't just happen! According to the National Cancer Society, it takes 15 to 20 years for
the cancer to develop. Research shows that we are all born with cancer cells. Many of these cells store environmental chemical and food related toxins, therefore women over 40 who have accumulated toxins, tend to be more prone.

Body Language can also play an important part in how the lymph system works. Women today
tend to cover their upper body with a shoulder bag, pocketbook or piles of papers and books.
Women carry things over their breasts. Notice how men seldom cover their chests while standing
and when they walk they swing their arms. The majority of women usually will walk with 1 arm or no arms swinging, thus there is little stimulation to move the lymph which has a base in the armpit area.

This lymph helps to detox the body. When we women walk with bags and piles of stuff we are also out of balance. Add to that negative thoughts, words and ideas and facial expressions change and shoulders slump. The number one complaint of survivors I have interviewed is that they feel old.
Whether you are a breast cancer survivor or not, it is time. Time to walk with your chin level with
the floor, swing your arms and smile. Think about your successes to date and know there is much
you will do in the future. Especially preventing Cancer by having tests for early detection.
Statistics show Breast Cancer is 95% successful when "caught early."
